Pelosi Might Use the 14th Modification to Keep away from Seating GOP Candidates Who Help Trump’s Election Steal

Progressives urge Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to use Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution to avoid sitting in the Republican House who publicly supported President Donald Trump’s attempt at that Steal election of Democratic President-elect Joe Biden.

This is because Section 3 of the 14th Amendment literally states that anyone who has tried to rebel against the Constitution after pledging to protect it cannot hold political office. This would include all members of the GOP House who have signed an amicus letter supporting the Texas Supreme Court Ken Paxton’s false case of hundreds of thousands of votes in four swing states using it Trump can steal a democratically determined election.

The section states: “No one may be a senator or representative in Congress, or electorate for the President and Vice President, or hold any civil or military office in the United States or in any state that has previously taken an oath as a member of Congress or as An official of the United States, or as a member of a state legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of a state in support of the United States Constitution, must have led an insurrection or rebellion against it, or given aid or comfort to its enemies. ”

New Jersey Democratic Representative Bill Pascrell wrote in a tweet: “The text of the 14th Amendment specifically forbids members of Congress from rebelling against the United States. Trying to overthrow a democratic election and install a dictator seems to be a pretty clear example of this. “
