Music, civil rights & extra on Wednesday podcasts with Yogie Gidley and Ashley Thornton
Yogie Gidley of Yogie’s media and music sponsor Ashley Thornton has a new podcast that airs Wednesday nights that records music and more.
Yogies Media Music News & More… will be broadcast live from 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Noah Baker’s The Platform Studio in Montgomery.
The first episode took place on March 31st with music guests RLE King Ant and Justice B, supported by djembe drummer Duron Hale.
“We really got a lot of views for the first,” said Thornton, who co-hosts with Gidley. “It will be better. That was our process. This is more of yogie’s territory. She’s trying to push me out of there. ”
“The podcast is about a lot of OGs, as I call them here,” said Gidley. “Not just in Montgomery, but in the surrounding counties as well.”
Gidley said they are also putting the spotlight on the work behind the scenes in the music business.
“It was really cool to see how it goes behind the scenes,” said Thornton.
Gidney and Thornton work together to find guests for upcoming shows. “She knows a lot and I know a lot,” said Thornton.
The second episode on Wednesday will feature Birmingham producer Bennie Hurst, Beat Champ and artist B-hold da General. The following week, DJ, the DJ for Yo! 100.5 Classic Jamz radio in Montgomery.
They also deal with much deeper issues, particularly civil rights. In the first episode, Florence and Stacy Whitehurt told the Montgomery Police Department their story of a 1975 civil rights violation.
Yogie said the podcasts will also be edited to be part of an upcoming television program.
