A team of attorneys from a Hartford, Connecticut law firm specializing in employment law joined FordHarrison.

FordHarrisonHartford’s employment and labor department has been characterized by the hiring of three partners Siegel, O’Connor, O’Donnell & Beck.

Edward (Bud) O’Donnell, Ryan O’Donnell and Michael Spagnola, described as “accomplished partners” in a statement from the executive partner of the Hartford office Johanna ZelmanThey “are seasoned lawyers with an impressive background,” she continued.

Bud O’Donnell, who has more than four decades of experience in labor law with a focus on private sector labor law, represents union avoidance, strikes and lockouts, and contract negotiation. Most commonly, he works for public and private sector employers on a number of matters including anti-discrimination, harassment, and violations of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Restaurants often benefit from Bud O’Donnell’s advice on matters that normally only arise in the restaurant context, much like Ryan O’Donnell, who also represents restaurants in complying with Connecticut’s wage and working time laws and Covid-related safety regulations. Both also work in the cannabis, healthcare, recruitment, and labor relations industries. Ryan O’Donnell, who previously served as CEO of the Connecticut restaurant security technology startup DineSafe, also frequently works for private employers and public companies on employment issues in unionized and non-union task forces, as well as in FMLA and FLSA matters.

Spagnola is active in all labor and labor law matters as well as litigation and also acts as a preventive advisor. He has experience in state and federal courts and administrative authorities in the areas of discrimination, harassment, dismissal, whistleblower, wage and working time law, but also represents boards of directors in cases of unfair labor practices and arbitration, among other things. Spagnola also negotiates severance pay and contracts and represents companies in commercial disputes.

Goldberg Segalla Special advisor hired Kristin Mullins in February of this year to her workers’ compensation practice in Hartford, where she brought litigation, claims and insurance experience with her.
