Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill will get backing of civil rights group
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. – – Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill receives assistance from a Metro Atlanta civil rights group after a federal grand jury is charged with alleged civil rights violations against inmates at Clayton County Jail.
The New Order human rights organization said it was behind Sheriff Hill. The group held a press conference Thursday to announce their support for Hill. They said they take all allegations of violations of constitutional rights seriously.
But New Order officials add their legal analysts have looked at Hill’s charges and they don’t believe Hill violated anyone’s rights.

“I’ve talked to several people from Clayton County, some love Victor Hill, some not. But I can tell you the crime is down here, you know he runs his prison like a boot camp, and some people can’t accept it said Gerald Rose, New Order.
The federal indictment describes Hill using a restraint chair at least four detainees who allegedly complied with law enforcement staff and did not offer any apparent resistance. It is also alleged that the sheriff ordered his staff to use excessive force in prison over the past year.

The Department of Justice and the FBI briefed the media on the charges against Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill.
Prosecutors said Hill withheld due process from detainees because the violence was so great it was a punishment. Any charge is punished with a maximum of 10 years imprisonment if it is established beyond doubt that the use of force has caused pain and bodily harm.
Hill pleaded not guilty on all four counts and was on bail Tuesday. In a statement released Tuesday, the sheriff called it “a politically motivated federal legal case” and vowed to fight the charges.
