Arkansas Governor Indicators Professional-Non secular Discrimination Invoice Permitting Docs to Refuse to Deal with LGBTQ Sufferers
A Tennessee Republican legislature is pushing for bill banning books dealing with LGBTQ topics or lifestyles from public schools, claiming they are inappropriate and insulting Christians.
Rep. Bruce Griffey’s bill will be taken up next week by the House’s Home Schooling Subcommittee, WBIR reports. Ironically, Griffey has just been relieved of all of his committee duties, including the subcommittee on educational instructions, after trying to get another bill to the floor of the house after it was rejected on committee.
“Tennessee public schools should draw students’ attention to academic curricula that are critical to student success, such as reading, science, and math,” the bill said. It also states: “Textbooks and teaching materials as well as supplementary teaching materials that promote, normalize, support or address controversial social issues such as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) are inappropriate.”
The legislation, should it become law, could be considered unconstitutional as it also claims that “the promotion of LGBT issues and lifestyles in public schools offends a significant proportion of Tennessee students, parents and residents with Christian values”.
Rep. Griffey legislation also compares teaching LGBTQ issues to religious education, stating, “The promotion of LGBT topics and lifestyles should be subject to the same restrictions and restrictions that are imposed on religious education in public schools.”
On his campaign website, with a Trump logo and a large photo of Griffey kissing his wife, he says, “Marriage is between a man and a woman and a state-approved part of existence,” and then attacks couples and same-sex individuals LGBTQ people say it is “normal courtesy” for LGBTQ people to live their lives privately.
“I am not concerned, nor do I want to know or think about the voluntary sexual activity of two consenting adults that is not harmful or harmful,” he says. “We don’t know anything about the sexual behavior of others and we don’t want to know either.”
