‘You are Placing Nation Above Get together?’ Chris Wallace Calls Out Roy Blunt’s ‘Honesty’ on Jan. 6 Fee

Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO) declined over the weekend to say whether he is “putting the country above the party” by opposing a commission investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol.

In a Sunday interview on Fox News, host Chris Wallace asked Blunt why he was trying to prevent a fresh investigation into the January 6th events.

“Well, I think it’s too early to take a commission,” explained Blunt. “And I think the Senate Republicans will decide it’s too early to form this commission. Commissions often don’t work at all. And when they work like the Simpson-Bowles Commission, it’s got a good result – nothing happened as part of that result. “

Wallace pointed out that former 9/11 Commission Chairs recently issued a statement on January 6 in support of the creation of a commission to put “land without prejudice over party”.

“The question is whether an independent commission – not members of Congress – could serve a useful role,” said the Fox News host. “Can you honestly say, when you speak out against this commission, that you put the country above the party?”

Blunt didn’t answer the question directly.

“In my lifetime, [9/11 and Jan. 6] These are the two crucial moments when the country, the Capitol and the city itself are exposed to an attack we did not expect, ”he said. “But I think the 9/11 Commission had a lot more information at its disposal than this one at the start, and we made a lot of decisions before the 9/11 Commission started that were important to keep the Capitol safe take a closer look at our intelligence defects. “

“We have to do all of these things,” he added.
