Vijay Goel begins quick for compensation to kin of frontline employees who died of Covid

Senior BJP leader and former union minister Vijay Goel began a fast on Wednesday to seek timely compensation for the families of frontline workers who died during the pandemic. Goel said the families of Covid-19 warriors could not have received any help from the Delhi government, which announced in May 2020 that it would pay compensation but has yet to take action.

This includes doctors, nurses, paramedics, security guards, sanitary guards, government officials and police personnel, Goel said.

He also said the government should immediately open a portal and set up a separate hotline number for relatives to apply for compensation.

“The Kejriwal government has made many announcements for these warriors, but nobody knows the politics. The government had decided on May 13, 2020 that families of Corona warriors who lost their lives to the disease in the service will receive 1 billion rupees, “said Goel.

He claimed that the number of families that had been compensated so far was far fewer than the number of those who died. “So far, families with only 15 people have been compensated. Nobody knows what happens to the rest of the people. Kejriwal makes politics about compensation, ”said Goel.

Goel also said the Delhi government should clarify whether it would compensate employees in private hospitals.

He said the families of ordinary citizens who died of Covid also have the right to claim compensation from taxpayers’ money.

The Delhi government has announced that the families of those who died of Covid will receive 50,000 rupees as compensation.

According to sources from the Delhi government, the provisions of the compensation scheme should be clarified this week.
