Ventura County firefighter ordered to pay greater than $200ok for staff’ compensation fraud
VENTURA, California – The Ventura District Attorney announced that a Ventura County firefighter convicted of lying on disability benefits has been sentenced to pay more than $ 200,000 in refund and fine.
Santa Barbara, 34-year-old Perry Adam Lieber was charged with two employee compensation fraud offenses and one perjury crime in June 2020 after allegedly providing false information about disability benefits he failed to access while at work The district fire brigade was entitled.
Lieber pleaded guilty in December and was sentenced to 90 days in prison and 24 months probation in January 2021.
His crimes reportedly resulted in more than $ 186,082 in losses to York Risk Services, the Ventura County Fire Department and Ventura County.
As a result, prosecutors ordered him to pay $ 198,025 in victim reimbursement and $ 30,000 in fines.
Additionally, the court ruled that several Lieber-controlled financial accounts previously frozen by the court must be liquidated in order to fully fulfill the mandate – totaling more than $ 228,000.
Lieber is still expected to serve his 90-day prison sentence and serve 24 months on probation.
A refund and fines hearing is scheduled for April 29 at 9:00 am in Courtroom 26 of the Ventura County Superior Court.
