Trump Ignores Nashville Bombing to Inform Supporters to Rally In opposition to “Election Fraud”
President Donald Trump has so far ignored the massive bombings in Nashville, Tennessee, which damaged 41 buildings. Instead, he is asking his Twitter followers to gather in Washington DC on January 6th to support his overthrow of an election he lost over 46 days ago.
“The Justice Department and the FBI, despite overwhelming evidence, did nothing to counteract the fraud in the 2020 presidential election, the largest fraud in our country’s history,” Trump wrote in a tweet on Saturday morning. “You should be ashamed of yourself. History will remember. Never give up. See you all in DC on January 6th. “
January 6th is the day Congress meets to approve the vote of the electoral college. Usually it’s just an inauguration day formality, but since Trump has fully denied his loss – including over 50 lost court cases for “election fraud” – he has encouraged Republicans in Congress to vote against approving the election results.
The Republican opposition will achieve very little, as majorities in both houses of Congress would have to vote against the results of the electoral college to question them, which will not happen in the democratically run house. On the contrary, the vote will place Republicans in the uncomfortable position of having to state on record whether or not they support Trump’s baseless attempt to steal the election.
If they don’t vote for Trump’s lies, Republicans could target supporters wanting to end their political careers or target them for violent threats. If you vote for Trump’s lies, you will identify yourself as supporters of an unprecedented attempt to overthrow democracy in the United States.
Some Twitter users suspect that Trump is trying to incite violence in the US capital during the elections.
In a tweet on Saturday morning, George Conway, Republican husband of former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, wrote: “It’s pretty clear now that @ realDonaldTrump’s next desperate game is to disrupt Washington on January 6th, Vote Day, if not encouraging violence are counted prior to a joint congressional session. “
In a separate tweet on Saturday morning, Trump wrote: “A young soldier working in Afghanistan told me that elections in Afghanistan are far safer and much better than the 2020 elections in the US. Our choice, with millions upon millions of corrupt mail-in ballots, was to choose a third world country. Wrong President! “
The Wall Street Journal’s chief foreign affairs correspondent, Yaroslav Trofimov, commented on the tweet: “The last two presidential elections in Afghanistan were so fraudulent that the loser and winner shared power to avoid civil war.”
Authorities expect the Nashville bombing to be a potential act of terrorism that appears to be unimportant to the president.
