Trump Advisers ‘Virtually Begged Him’ to Promote Vaccines to MAGA Followers — however He Gained’t
Polls consistently show that Trump supporters are most resilient to vaccination against the novel coronavirus, and former President Donald Trump doesn’t seem too keen to change his mind.
The Daily Beast reports that Trump advisors say they tried to convince the former president to do more to get his die-hard fans to vaccinate, but so far he hasn’t done much other than saying that on occasion people should be taking the vaccine.
“I practically asked him to keep coming out and making videos calling his supporters who are reluctant to take their pictures,” a Trump confidante told The Daily Beast. “The last time I checked in, I hadn’t heard any positive movement in that direction.”
Trump’s former HHS official Michael Caputo also told the website that he informed Trump last year that his own supporters were the least likely to be vaccinated.
“We spoke at HHS in August and said it was ironic that our friends, our allies, were the most hesitant to vaccinate among us,” he said, “and we are still faced with that question.”
Trump was actually vaccinated before leaving the White House in January, but he declined to have photos or videos taken of the vaccination and he kept his vaccination a secret until he spoke about it weeks later at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
The Trump Advisers post “practically asked him” to promote vaccines for MAGA supporters – but it won’t appear first in the New Civil Rights Movement.
