Nation Shocked South Carolina Is Celebrating ‘Accomplice Memorial Day’

South carolina State government offices are closed on Monday to celebrate Confederate Memorial Day, which honors the 258,000 (or more) Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War fighting the United States.

Many across the country are stunned that the Palmetto state is still celebrating treason and white supremacy.

But South Carolina is not alone.

Ten states across the country observe, honor and celebrate the holidays or similar, such as Confederate Heroes Day and Confederate Decoration Day, from January to June. They are: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and Tennessee.

This 2018 video from South Carolina’s The State newspaper shows what some think of “vacation”.

Here’s how some others react:

Confederate Memorial Day is like an attack on Pearl Harbor Party Day

Or like 9/11 Celebration Day.

Or like “yay JFK got shot in the head” tag

Confederate Memorial Day is basically the “White Heritage Day” that all these racists always make in their ridiculous hypotheses when Black History Month goes around every year.

Today is officially recognized as Confederate Memorial Day in South Carolina.

Let me sum it up. Your ancestors were preoccupied with something utterly evil, and some of you do not have enough sense of it to be called evil and to be appropriately ashamed of that evil.

Thanks for reminding.

Whites Over Slavery: Blacks need to get over slavery that was so long ago and we shouldn’t be punished for something our ancestors did.

White People on Slavery too: Let’s celebrate Confederate Day to celebrate our legacy of treason and slavery. https://t.co/0MaJmpZOLZ

Is Confederate Memorial Day the Consolation Prize for Racists? pic.twitter.com/3rXHtvpFHv

Today South Carolina closed government offices for Confederate Memorial Day to commemorate the 258,000 soldiers who died fighting for the Confederation

Why does a state remember traitors?

– Edward Hardy (@EdwardTHardy) May 10, 2021

Any state that recognizes Confederate Memorial Day is likely mistakenly educating their children on the Lost Cause story and glorifying the Confederation. This is what keeps racism alive.

Imagine a state holiday to celebrate Nazi Germany or ISIS. That’s what South Carolina is doing today. https://t.co/0XE35rvt2K

Confederate Memorial Day?
How about a Nazi Memorial Day? WTF South Carolina?

So the South Carolina state offices are going to be closed tomorrow for Confederate Memorial Day, and I can’t help but think about how backwards that is.

The fact that the southern states have a “Confederate Memorial Day” is an affront to black Americans and really to all Americans who are not racists. https://t.co/owXyvbhBPt

South Carolina: We want to attract jobs and investments to our state.

South Carolina too: Let’s celebrate Confederate Memorial Day and bring back the firing squad.
