President Donald Trump issued a full apology to Alice Marie Johnson Friday afternoon, less than 24 hours after she nearly endorsed him in a speech last night at the Republican National Convention.

“I will be forever grateful,” Johnson said of 1,500 Trump supporters who sat by the RNC stage on the South Lawn of the White House Thursday night. “God bless you. God bless President Trump and God bless America.”

In 2018, Trump commuted Johnson’s life sentence without parole following an ACLU campaign and at the request of Kim Kardashian and Jared Kushner. It is not known why he did not grant her a full pardon at this point.

“I was once told that the only way I could ever be reunited with my family would be a corpse, but by the grace of God and the compassion of President Donald John Trump, I stand before you tonight and assure you that I do it’s not a ghost, ”said Johnson at the RNC. “I live, I am fine and most of all, I am free.”

Attorney Adrienne Lawrence, author of a book on sexual harassment in the workplace, suggested that the pardon was “consideration”.

A pardon is more expansive than converting a sentence, since the pardon gives the person back their electoral, jury member, etc.
