One of Donald Trump’s former corporate executives believes he will no longer be president – while prosecutors are closer.
Former Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization, Barbara Res, was interviewed by MSNBC’s Alex Witt on Saturday after the Washington Post bombshell announced earlier this week that Manhattan DA Cy Vance Jr. would have a super grand jury for the has convened a criminal investigation into the former president’s business. Res is the author of the 2020 book Tower of Lies: What My Eighteen Years of Working with Donald Trump Reveals About Him.
“It’s interesting, Donald Trump has certainly responded to the news from the grand jury and there is a statement calling it” the greatest witch hunt in American history, “” noted Witt. “I mean, we heard he kept staying away from him, but Politico asks, how can it be a political witch hunt when he’s no longer in the game? It continues quite simply: float another run for the president. But Trump’s aides tell Politico that his interest in running in 2024 isn’t just a defense tactic. One said he missed being president terribly. I’m curious, given your 18 years of working with him, what do you think of all of this? How do you think he reacts to all of this privately? “
“Well, first of all, I think he’s getting angry,” Res replied.
“I think he’s so angry. All of the things he set up, the things he set up to get elected the first time and almost to be elected the second time, were both inappropriately justified, and all the other things, the attorney general and the nature of the judges and all the things that he thought he suddenly worked for him are no longer there. it’s – he can’t avoid it, ”she explained. “That happened and that is something he thought he could avoid.”
