Greg Abbott Mocked for Signing Regulation Banning Companies From Asking for ‘Vaccine Data’

Republicans from Texas Governor Greg Abbott has been heavily criticized after promising to sign a law banning companies from asking for “vaccine information”, including banning “vaccine passports”.

Abbott, who is running for re-election and faces a possible main challenge from the state’s GOP chairman, is in his favor: 45% negative to 43% positive.

On Monday, Abbott was attacked by an editor at Glenn Beck’s The Blaze for allowing Carnival Cruise Lines to “sail from Galveston and postpone vaccination records,” Abbott replied less than two hours later Any business activity in Texas prohibits soliciting vaccination records or vaccination information. “

“Texas is 100% open with no restrictions or restrictions or requirements,” he boasted.

Many pointed out that banning vaccination records, or even asking about vaccination status, is a government restriction or requirement and companies have the right to protect their employees.

“Grotesque hypocrisy” is how the former New York writer James Surowiecki characterized Abbott’s move.

A ban is a restriction, Governor Abbott.

Texas specifically violates the freedom of corporations to do what they believe makes most sense for their business. Grotesque hypocrisy of a supposedly business-friendly administration. https://t.co/yBQ3qztp0A

Many, like this professor at the University of Houston, made comparisons with anti-gay bakeries.

We have a governor who hates disabled people. And who loves to have oppressive, dangerous regulations from the Great Government. And he’s okay to tell private companies what to do when it comes to saving lives (not), but when it comes to gay cake, “private companies” can do anything, he says https://t.co / 8ebb6nyQ5S

This is what some others say:

No more immigration laws and children no longer need to be vaccinated for school! Plus, now you have to bake all those gay wedding cakes with no restrictions. https://t.co/rbzGJlQfmc

So when I invoke hypocrisy here, I want to make it clear: turning down customers because they’re gay is bad. Rejecting customers because they could infect your other customers with a deadly disease isn’t https://t.co/EHiIE3nFMI

Ah, yes, the Republican Party’s hypocrisy is on full display. You’re supporting a company that isn’t forced to bake a cake for a member of the LBGTQ community, but not for companies that need a vaccination before joining. https://t.co/cak0BJOkaA

That’s wonderful. Now Christians have to sell cakes to gays. https://t.co/u50CGld4Bc

Normally I wouldn’t retweet these idiots, but it’s just amazing to see these so-called anti-regulatory Rs try to prevent private companies from making decisions for their businesses. And all because the same Rs decided to politicize a public health crisis. Obvious hypocrisy. https://t.co/trveSAgtLk

In the same world where a business can refuse to bake a cake for a gay couple 👏🏽 https://t.co/SMtVNtY4kw

So companies are free to discriminate against the gays, but heaven forbid they’re trying to deal with a damn * pandemic * https://t.co/IIcSjU3jw1

You can refuse to serve a gay but not an unvaccinated one! https://t.co/NLoec9BNdI
