Former Director of the US Office of Government Ethics, Walter Shaub, sounds the alarm about the current state of democracy in America.

Stimulated by two stories: the pressure on infrastructure legislation over voting rights and the New York Times bombshell Thursday night that both Trump’s Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Bill Barr spied on Democrats in Congress, including their staff, family members and even children, Shaub left to work to wake Americans up to how bad he thinks things are.
And he puts much of the blame on President Joe Biden’s shoulders.
“I think Biden is doing a good job with the pandemic and a few other things,” Shaub tweeted on Friday morning. “But I am increasingly concerned that he seems ignorant of the threat to democracy and is not really committed to promoting electoral law or corruption. This is dangerous.”
“I like him too,” said Shaub, who is now a Senior Ethics Fellow with Project On Government Oversight, a social media user who defended Biden’s popularity. “But I come to the conclusion that he has no idea of the danger.”
What danger?
“First danger.”
I’ve been raising a lot of alarms lately because way too many people who should know better think that now that Trump is gone, everything is fine – and sure, the bad guys are still at it, but their type is on top. I tell you, this republic is in great danger.

“Listen, your online friends can go back to sleep if they want, just tell them to set their alarms on quarter to fascism so they don’t miss the handover,” he warns, implying that the fascists are winning.
“’LOSE THE HERO WORSHIP,’” he tells the Democrats, “and starts hammering … people in the White House and Congress [who] think it is enough to behave better than Tump. They have no longer worried about democracy and are spending all their political capital on repairing the roads and lines.

“DEVIL AGAIN!” Shub shouts through his keyboard. “The law reform to save democracy is not one of the 100 most important things that are important to the Biden White House, and that is absolutely terrifying because the fascists are standing with a battering ram at the gates.”
Another of these people appears to be Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein, who is under fire for telling a reporter yesterday that she does not support the killing of the filibuster and does not believe that American democracy is “in danger”.
