COVID-Denying Congressman Refusing to Put on a Masks Slammed for Saying He is ‘Simply Bored with It’

US Representative Ralph Norman (R-SC) made headlines last week when he insisted on the thousands of rioters and insurgents who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6. They wore MAGA hats and Trump shirts, wore Trump flags, shouted Trump’s name, and put their careers, freedom and life at risk on President Donald Trump’s orders wasn’t necessarily pro-Trump.

“I don’t know who took the poll to say they were Trump supporters,” Norman said, trying to whitewash the insurrection and ignoring the identities of the hundreds of insurgents already arrested.

This week, Congressman Norman is battling another fundamental fact of life: wearing masks.

He and about a dozen other members of the GOP House have decided to break house rules and stop wearing masks in Congress. They claim they should only have to follow the CDC guidelines. But some of the 12, like Congressman Marjorie Taylor Greene, are refusing to get vaccinated, and CNN reports that fewer than half of Republicans in the House of Representatives say they got the shots.

“We’re just sick of it,” said Norman on Thursday morning to “Fox & Friends”.

Rep. Norman was apparently “tired” of wearing a mask last summer too, so he didn’t:

Mike Johnson and Clay Higgins of Louisiana both went to the floor without a mask. Trey Hollingsworth of Indiana picked one up when it went down. Ted Yoho from Florida. Michael Guest from Mississippi. Tim Burchett from Tennessee. Ralph Norman from South Carolina

Just weeks later, Norman was literally behind a quack who was pushing hydroxychloroquine before the Supreme Court:

Cases in the SC are on the rise and Congressman Ralph Norman held a press conference to spread misinformation about COVID-19. 1,500 South Carolinians have died because our leaders do not take this seriously. This is not leadership, this is dangerous. pic.twitter.com/QsomH471SU

This week, Norman didn’t wear a mask during Tuesday and Wednesday’s Congress either, but was fined $ 500 for his first offense.

Countless jobs across the country still require the wearing of masks, especially those open to the public. Some people criticize Norman and the other anti-masked Republicans, asking why lawmakers who are supposed to set an example as national leaders should get special treatment.

These people are such babies.

The 5 to 12 year olds in my elementary school can wear their masks 7 1/2 hours a day. Says a lot about these grown-up adults

Dear @RepRalphNorman

Wear your mask. Get over it. https://t.co/GZ4cNCzltU

Anyone who receives a fine plans to use the fine in fundraising appeals for campaigns. It’s essentially a cost to the business, like many fines. You will reap a lot more income.

@RepRalphNorman People who develop autoimmune diseases or who have been long-term diagnosed with COVID suffer from chronic health conditions. They are fed up with healthy people complaining about wearing masks. Completely selfish and inconsiderate. https://t.co/B1XVnAf1q9
