Court docket nixes judgment for family of slain Birmingham employee
A state appeals court says a Jefferson County court erred in ruling the city of Birmingham to pay benefits to the dependents of a city worker who was shot while mowing grass. The Alabama Court of Appeals on Friday overturned a ruling in favor of Grady Jenkins’ wife and three children. Jenkins was shot dead cutting grass for the city’s horticultural department in 2017. Nobody was arrested. The appeals court ruled that a lower court erroneously sided with Jenkins ‘survivors and approved workers’ compensation because of unanswered questions about who killed Jenkins and why.

A state appeals court says a Jefferson County court erred in ruling the city of Birmingham to pay benefits to the dependents of a city worker who was shot while mowing grass.
The Alabama Court of Appeals on Friday overturned a ruling in favor of Grady Jenkins’ wife and three children.
Jenkins was shot dead cutting grass for the city’s horticultural department in 2017.
