As Dems Transfer Towards Impeaching Trump Subsequent Week Specialists Demand Instant Motion: ‘The. Man. Has. The. Nuclear. Codes.’

House spokeswoman Nancy Pelosi announced Thursday that the vice president will not remove the president from office through his 25th amendment powers to indict Donald Trump. On Friday, Democrats announced that they would expect a vote in the middle of next week.

As Trump’s days in office quickly come to an end and the very real and even likely stakes of what he could do to further damage the nation – including attacking a foreign country or ordering a nuclear strike – experts from politics warn and government, express outrage and demand an immediate vote.

Two days after instigating a riot that destroyed the U.S. Capitol, endangered the lives of elected American leaders and countless civilians, and left Americans dead, Trump is still in control of military and nuclear codes.

There is little reason why a vote against President Trump could not take place in the next 24 to 48 hours. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) designed it while she and her colleagues were huddled in Congress when the Capitol was besieged by Trump’s violent insurgents.

Government ethics expert Walter Shaub has been exceptionally vocal in the past 15 hours, posting nine tweets urging Congress to act immediately. A sample:

A decade or two ago, someone could have predicted that a sitting president would start a deadly riot in the Capitol and hold back the National Guard with its own vice president, and then Congress would spend the next day NOT indicting him?

JOB, CONGRESS – TODAY!

– Walter Shaub (@waltshaub), January 8, 2021

That’s 6 days for Trump to do any damage before the House even votes. Why so long? Don’t you understand the urgency?!?! Can Congress do EVERYTHING right? https://t.co/pP0n5P6Gsn

America: TRUMP IS A TICKING TIME BOMB, IMPEACH HIM BEFORE IT KILLS THE WORLD!

Congress: By Jupiter, you are right! We are on.

America: Now?

Congress: No, we have to prepare

America: tomorrow then?

Congress: And lose our weekend?

America: Monday?

Congress: Maybe Wednesday

Political Scientist and Assoc. Professor at Georgia Southern University:

You can’t wait a second longer to indict this man. This is a president who gave up his fascist base on Congress and his own vice president in an attempted coup.

The. Man. Has. The. Nuclear. Codes.

Congress needs to speed up Trump’s impeachment like it’s a bleeding crisis. Because it is. And America’s media and politicians must think seriously about what this was, how big this problem is. We’re wasting valuable, limited time.

– Jared Yates Sexton (@JYSexton) January 8, 2021

The point is this. We are already trying to pretend that this coup wasn’t such a big deal, or at least the last breath of that fascist moment. It is not. At all. This is a persistent, complex, and massive problem and we’d better deal with it before it is too late.

Every member of Congress has to get their ass from wherever they are in the District of Columbia so they can reach this madman right away. You don’t schedule this historic impeachment like a doctor’s appointment. They plan it as if it were an * emergency * surgery.
