US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) accused House of Representatives minority Republican leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) of condoning white supremacism and other extremist views and the activists who carry them out, especially the newcomer MPs Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), also known as QAnon Congresswoman.
“Unfortunately, it seems increasingly that Kevin McCarthy in the House Republican Caucus is responding to these QAnon congressmen, not the other way around,” Rep. Ocasio-Cortez told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes on Wednesday evening. “You know, he said he would pull Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene aside after you knew her, her comments to Parkland activists and comments that Muslim Americans should not serve fully and freely in the home, that they must be forced to continue to swear a Bible, etc. “
The New York Democratic Congressman was referring to a video that reappeared on Wednesday showing Greene harassing, harassing and berating David Hogg, the survivor of the Parkland School massacre. He was only 18 or 19 years old when Greene attacked him on the streets of Washington DC
In response to a report, Leader McCarthy planned to speak to Rep. Greene about their attacks, including supporting calls for the execution of top Democrats like spokeswoman Nancy Pelosi, AOC essentially mocked – based on her own personal experiences.
“I saw Kevin McCarthy pull someone aside to speak to him, and that rep he last dealt with was Ted Yoho from Florida.
Yoho approached AOC on the steps of the US Capitol. She decided to give a speech on the floor of the house after he made a very non-apologetic statement.
“What Kevin McCarthy did was pull him aside to essentially excuse, allow, and encourage his behavior,” said Ocasio-Cortez. “Indeed, Kevin McCarthy’s failure to hold his own caucus accountable is a major reason I went down. Last year to hold myself accountable. And when I hear that Rep. McCarthy is going to pull a member aside, white supremacists have been made to sympathize with comments. I think he will tell them keep up the good work because there are no consequences in the Republican caucus for violence, there are no consequences for racism, no consequences for massaging, no consequences for the insurrection, and no consequences mean they do tolerate.
