Voting Rights Invoice Killed, Infrastructure in Doubt
#BetoLovesDogs Rises
Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott is under fire for vetoing the Safe Outdoor Dogs Act, bipartisan legislation designed to protect dogs by making it illegal to tie them outdoors with heavy chains or without water or to leave shade. He criticized the bill as “micromanaging and over-criminalization”.
The legislation “would have expanded and clarified the state’s animal cruelty laws” and “had the support of animal control officials, law enforcement agencies and organizations, district attorneys and animal advocates, and was passed 28: 3 in the Senate and 83”. -32 in the house, ”as reported by The Week.
Abbott is increasingly on the national news amid speculation that he might run for the White House in 2024. He is also facing a possible area code from the right. When #AbbottHatesDogs was trending on social media, the Republican governor of Texas posted a clip of his two dogs. It didn’t seem to help.

A veto on dog protection legislation doesn’t seem to have helped its future prospects, as many social media users seem to think, but it did help former U.S. Congressman Beto O’Rourke when people started tweeting # BetoLovesDogs to post.
I have to hand it over to the governor. “Anti-suffrage, cruelty to animals” is a bold message of re-election. pic.twitter.com/bw6JoqC1U2

Beto would never veto any dog cruelty law # AbbottHatesDogs

Greg Abbott wants Texas to be the state of freezing in winter, roasting in summer, chaining a dog with no shelter or water, and forcing a 13-year-old rape and incest victim to give birth to her grandfather’s baby.
Fuck you Abbott, you’re bad. #AbbottHatesDogs pic.twitter.com/klTIecvpB9

Nice try. You are so obviously trying to downplay the hate dog message you sent.
– Bry (@irebry) June 22, 2021
Nice that you can play. Unlike the myriad of dogs that are chained up in your state with no food, shelter, or water that you want to keep in these conditions for no goddamn reason.
Fuck yourself, you wiggling toadstool. You don’t deserve dogs.

“Texans don’t need micromanagement like that” is a bloody statement given the bills he’s signed …

While it sounds incomprehensible at first, it makes sense considering that Governor Abbott also does not believe that people should have potable water or adequate housing.

This was one of 18 dogs chained up in a garden and he was too scared to approach anyone. Nephew Dylan lured him out of hiding so that a rescue team could move him to a more comfortable home.

Governor Abbott vetoed cruelty to animals, caring less about dogs, caring less about his freezing citizens in winter or sultry citizens in summer, all thinking about using their tax dollars to pay a wall to please Trump. #AbbottHatesDogs pic. twitter.com/rTIymiGicg
