WSJ Author Who Attacked Jill Biden for Utilizing ‘Dr.’ As soon as Wrote He ‘Would Want Homosexuality Off the Face of This Earth’

Right-wing media broadcaster The federalist yesterday mourned the Supreme Court’s 6-3 ruling that the 1964 Civil Rights Act applies to LGBTQ people and protects them from discrimination in the workplace. Judge Neil Gorsuch, who was President Donald Trump’s first candidate for the country’s highest court, drafted the majority opinion.

The federalist has existed for years as a clearing house for anti-LGBTQ screeds and pillars. As Media Mallters editor-in-chief Parker Malloy stated after the 2017 release cut ties with freelance Denise McAllister, The Federalist is “regular, virulently transphobic.” Less than a year after launching in 2013, Media Matters reported that The Federalist “matters[ed] some of the most notorious anti-LGBT groups among their most passionate fans. “The website often uses misleading article images for articles targeting transgender people and causes. Some of them have tried to directly link transgender identity and child sexual abuse.

I would like to highlight something about right-wing media and their portrayal of trans people:

Sean Davis, co-founder of the publication, tweeted in response to the verdict, “The Supreme Court is not a court. It is a super-legislative branch led by nine politicians with life terms. Conservatives need to stop selecting judges based on promises made by candidates, how they analyze cases, and choosing people to vote correctly. “

The federalist reported the message with the headline “SCOTUS Upends Civil Rights Act rules on sex discrimination”. Jordan Davidson, an intern at The Federalist, wrote the article stating the verdict was “controversial” and followed 15 years of failed attempts in Congress to “put the definition of” gender “into law”. Davidson includes quotes from Ryan T. Anderson of the Heritage Foundation and Carrie Severino, President of the Judicial Crisis Network, who expressed disappointment with the verdict.

Joy Pullmann, editor-in-chief of The Federalist, wrote that the ruling would “further deteriorate Americans’ natural rights to freedom of expression, association and worship as their consciences require.” The headline in Pullmann’s article states that Monday’s decision to “fire bombs” is the US Constitution. She writes:

This decision is a disgrace to these foundations of Western civilization, our nation built on them, the voters who vote for them, and the honor of these men. President Trump ran promising judges who would not assassinate America, and Gorsuch just gave him and everyone who voted for him a giant middle finger. The newly discovered weakness of the court is also being exploited and investigated by left-wing agitators whose aim is to destroy the American system.

In view of all that, according to Obergefell v. Hodges happened, what was loudly said was ridiculous to predict – transgenderism immediately went mainstream, pushed religion into the closet, LGBT people cleared away, restricted people’s ability to freely express their beliefs and ideas, and coerced Educational institutions promote LGBT policies and behavior – it is naive to believe that such scenarios will not quickly become a reality because of this court decision.

Pullmann continues to encourage conservatives outraged by the decision to get on the email lists of longstanding anti-LGBTQ organizations and hate groups.

Chad Felix Greene, a senior official at The Federalist who is himself openly gay, argued that the Supreme Court ruling banning discrimination against LGBTQ people in employment “made LGBT people advocate for transgender rights and social acceptance could have a negative long-term impact ”. Green downplays the threat of workplace discrimination that LGBTQ people face, trying to compare the Supreme Court ruling with writer JK Rowling’s allegations that critics are accused of transphobia. Greene is aggressively transphobic and recently tried to troll the LGBTQ community online by repeatedly claiming he was both transgender and a person of color. Greene writes:

By linking gay and transgender rights to sex, the LGBT left has become bound by the definition of “sex”. The more fluid and subjective it becomes, the less fixed and predictable rights for gays and transgender people become. At the moment this doesn’t seem to be a problem or even a consideration as all they can see is victory. But they seldom think these things through to their logical conclusions.
