Workforce Protections, Civil Rights, and Human Providers Listening to Relating to HR 2373

Update from ACCSES:

Yesterday did Subcommittees of the House of Representatives Education and Labor Committee on Worker Protection, Civil Rights and Human Services held a joint hearing on “Phasing out under-minimum wages: Supporting the transition to competitive integrated employment for workers with disabilities”. That hearing was actually one of the best congressional hearings we’ve seen on the subject – and we’ve seen many. We would like to express special praise Dr. Matthew Putts, CEO of Employment Horizons in New Jersey, for taking the time to witness and share his expertise and eloquence. It was a very interesting two hours. You can check it out here.

RCPA provided a statement on our views on community rehabilitation programs, and both Rep. Keller and Congressman Thompson put the RCPA’s statement on record. Congressman Thompson was also positive about RCPA members Venango Development and Training Center, Cambria County Association of the Blind, ICW and Progressive Workshop. We are definitely grateful for your support.
