Wilmer Cutler, Legal professionals for Civil Rights Sue Needham, Mass. Police Over Arrest of Black CVS Shopper

Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr and civil rights attorneys filed a racial bias lawsuit against the city of Needham, Massachusetts, Needham Police Chief John Schlittler and four white police officers in the Massachusetts District Court on Wednesday. The lawsuit seeks civil rights claims on behalf of Marvin Hendry, a black man who alleges wrongly approached, arrested and detained while shopping at a CVS. The lawsuit seeks damages and punitive damages, as well as a court order urging the community to provide training on implicit prejudice and other police practices.
