Trump Could Flee to His Scottish Resort Earlier than Inauguration – however Scotland Simply Mentioned Journey Into the Nation Is Banned
President Donald Trump appears to be planning to flee to Scotland the day before Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20, but he now has another problem: the Scottish Prime Minister has just announced a new coronavirus lockdown.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced in a speech on Monday the new, expanded lockdown measures in her country: “The case remains that no one is allowed to enter or leave Scotland unless this serves an essential purpose.”
It’s hard to call escaping a country because you lost an election with 7 million votes.
“There is growing speculation that US President Donald Trump may be planning to prevent the inauguration of Joe Biden’s successor – by flying to Scotland,” reports that country’s newspaper, The Herald. “Prestwick Airport has now been informed that it should expect the arrival of a US military Boeing 757 aircraft on January 19, one day before Mr Biden’s takeover, and that Trump has occasionally been used.”
Trump’s money-losing Turnberry Golf Resort is located near Prestwick Airport.
“If Trump flies to Scotland, he could break coronavirus restrictions,” the Scottish newspaper added. “Trump Turnberry is closed until February 5th due to Tier 4 rules, according to the resort’s website.”
The Herald references this tweet from NBC’s Ken Dilanian, but it’s more than a month old:
According to my NBC News counterparts, Trump can announce opening day for 2024. In either case, he won’t be attending the initiation and has no plans to invite Biden to the White House or call him.
