Trump Attorneys’ Impeachment Temporary Stuffed With ‘Falsehoods,’ ‘Flat-Out Misrepresentations’ – and Typos

The legal team representing former United States President Donald Trump filed its legal opinion ahead of the Senate impeachment trial on Tuesday. Quotes from an Internet conspiracy site and typos.

He adds that there have also been “many reports from Republican members of Congress desperately trying to get Trump to make a strong statement to get the riots to leave the Capitol.”

Former US attorney Joyce Vance, now a legal analyst with MSNBC / NBC News and a law professor at the University of Alabama, says unflattering: “Trump’s lawyers are still on the brand.”

Slate’s Mark Joseph Stern points to Brian Kalt, a professor at Michigan State University College of Law who is quoted by Trump’s legal team, “pretty bad”.

“The law professor quoted heavily in Trump’s new pleading – claiming that late impeachment is unconstitutional, so the Senate must exempt it – says Trump’s attorney,” misrepresenting what I wrote pretty badly. “In reality, he came to the conclusion that late impeachment and deportation are constitutional. Kalt goes on to say that there are “several examples” of “blanket misrepresentations” of his work. According to Law & Crime, Kalt is “widely recognized as the leading constitutional law expert on presidency, presidential pardon, impeachment, succession and the 25th Amendment – and Trump’s legal team has quoted him 15 times.

There are several examples of such blanket misrepresentations. The worst is on page 30. You write, “When a president is no longer in office, the goal of impeachment ceases.” 79

Kalt says Democratic House executives quoted his work “honestly” but Trump’s team is “insincere and misleading.”

Again, my article presented all of the evidence I had found on both sides, so there was a lot to use fairly. You didn’t have to be so insincere and misleading.

The caretaker’s letter also quoted my article a lot and honestly did so to their credit.
