The place is the GOP? Delaware can do higher on paid depart
GOP where are you?
I am trying to understand something.
If a majority of Americans of all stripes want to get money out of politics, maximize the number of voters, and end gerrymandering, why are Republicans in Congress doing everything they can to block legislation that does so? Are they really for bribery, vote suppression and election fraud? I don’t really think so.
Since the Republicans in Congress claim that it is the Democrats who are corrupt, take power, and do not respond to the will of the people, I suggest one action they can take to resolve this issue: passing the law For the people.
This bill is currently being filibussed by the Republicans in the Senate, so I’m convinced they don’t understand how the For The People Act benefits the Conservatives. So I’ll spell it for you.
The For The People Act will help stop the flow of millions of dollars of dark money backing democratic politicians. It would end the ability of the democratically controlled federal legislature to secretly designate electoral districts. It would prevent a Democratic president from hiding his tax returns.
If the For the People Act is passed, Delaware’s own Senator Chris Coons and Senator Tom Carper, both Democrats, would have to give up any chance of big corporations covertly funding their re-election campaigns. You would have to come to everyday people for support.
Most of us want that. And we are ready to fix the filibuster to make it happen. Will you join us and act now?

Delaware has to do better on paid vacation
The end of our state’s COVID-19 Emergency Ordinance is an important step on the way to normalcy. Unfortunately, working people in Delaware, especially women and workers of color, are still facing a crisis from lack of paid family and sick leave. For so many of us, going back to normal is just not good enough.
I know I am not alone if I want our workers to be better protected from the next crisis. During the pandemic, many of us had to choose between taking care of ourselves, a loved one, or paying the bills. As I understand it, more than 50% of the working population in Delaware is not even eligible for unpaid leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act. What system forces people to go to work sick?
