Subcontractor Will get Cease-Work Order for Alleged Violations| Staff Compensation Information

The New Jersey Department of Labor and Human Resources has spearheaded a subcontractor performing work on the Jersey Shore boardwalk for six alleged violations, including misclassification of employees as independent contractors and the lack of employee comp insurance. This is evident from local media reports.

According to New York TV station News 12, labor officials from the Galo Contractors Group issued a work freeze order that was also charged with failing to register as a public works contractor and paying applicable wages.

The Ministry of Labor and Human Resources Development issued the Work Interruption Ordinance on March 9th.

A Keansburg official told the news channel that the community was not aware that Ascend Construction had awarded the boardwalk contract to Galo Contractors Group.

Labor officials began investigating the subcontractor after receiving complaints from employees, News 12 reported.

Ascend is now expected to complete the $ 170,000 project on its own, News 12 reported.
