Staff’ Compensation Fee Operational Suspension Ends in June |

Governor Ned Lamont’s suspension of the Workers’ Compensation Commission non-critical operations during the coronavirus pandemic will end in early June.

WCC chairman Stephen Morelli issued a memo on May 20 stating that the deadlines suspended by a Lamont ordinance will come back into force on June 2nd.

Lamont’s Executive Order 7K, issued in March 2020, suspended all non-critical commission transactions and the associated requirements.

The Commission’s deadlines that will return include:

  • All statutory registration deadlines, which are waived by the Implementing Ordinance, start again with effect from June 2nd. For example, a 20-day period for the payment of an arbitral award under Section 31-303 of June 2nd must begin on the 20th day after June 2nd.
  • Forms 36 received before the executive order expires will not be automatically approved. Forms 36 received on or after June 2nd will be automatically approved if no objection is filed within 15 days.
  • The job search will continue to be waived for any existing Temporary Partial Services and / or CGS 31-308a assignments that are in effect on or before June 2nd. With effect from June 2nd, the commissioners may, at their own discretion, request a job search if this is for temporary partial and / or CGS 31-308a benefits. No job search benefits will be terminated for temporary partial and / or CGS 31-308a benefits that have been paid from June 2nd.
  • Effective June 2nd, all other Commission policies, procedures and deadlines will revert to those that existed before March 16, 2020.
