Specialists Destroy ‘Traditionally Loathsome’ Lindsey Graham for Urging Schumer ‘Dismiss’ Impeachment So Nation Can ‘Heal’
Legal and political experts respond with disgust and anger to the Sunday letter from US Senator Lindsey Graham to the new Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer. Graham, a staunch and unyielding supporter of President Donald Trump, beat Democrats and those who support Trump’s condemnation in a Senate trial after the House’s historic second impeachment of the outgoing president.
In his letter, Graham speaks out against the condemnation of Trump for inciting insurrection, in part because Vice President Mike Pence “violated unconstitutional demands to overthrow the 2020 elections”. These unconstitutional demands came from President Trump. His insurgent supporters then went to the Capitol to look for the vice president and sang, “Hang Mike Pence!”
He also says that condemning Trump would “delay the healing of this great nation”. Experts call this argument wrong, saying that the only way the nation can hold Trump accountable in order to heal.
The response to Graham’s letter was instant and few on social media held back their blows.
“We’re experiencing the greatest underreaction to a violent uprising led by a seated president in human history, folks,” said Luke Zaleski, editor and director of research, Condé Nast Legal Affairs. “It’s because the Republican Party / Trump are experts on one thing: denying the premise of reality and convincing the people against the government is government.”
“No instigation is the new ‘no collusion,” “Zaleski continued. “A goal post is moved. Trump fueled an uprising that served as an attempted coup. It was probably planned and was definitely promoted. It was for him. It should stop his loss. It was organized and spontaneous and stochastic. It was violent. “
Popehat, the popular law blog run by Ken White, tweeted a more succinct response.
You are a historically hideous figure.

Washington Post’s Greg Sargent suggests that Graham is blackmailing:
Again, this is basically extortionate: sorry, no unity until accountability demands are dropped. The answer to that is “No. They are the ones who committed the crime. After what you have done, you cannot set unilateral conditions on unity. “Https://t.co/uunuZVA9RC https://t.co/N6FfE6Eeo6

Sorry Senator, how does Trump heal the nation if a) he refuses to accept that he has lost b) does not go to the inauguration c) does not meet with the new president d) causes a violent bloody uprising and riot, who kills people? https://t.co/Ssu8vWr9zL

Can anyone find Lindsey Graham’s similar letter asking his Senate colleagues NOT to engage in seditious acts? Or his letter to Trump asking him to accept the results of the free and fair elections?
I’m having trouble finding it. https://t.co/Ub5N6Dy8ee
