‘Sociopath’:Tom Cotton Buried as ‘Blood-Thirsty Fascist’ for Claiming US Has ‘Main Beneath-Incarceration Downside’
It’s a playbook Americans know all too well. Right-wing politicians are elected – or elected to higher office – by promising to fight crime by arresting the “bad guys.” No matter what some of the causes of some of the crimes are: unemployment, poverty, homelessness, lack of resources, inequality, lack of education and a massive global pandemic in 2020.
In response to a CNN report titled, “In the US, crime in major cities increased significantly in 2020. And it is not decreasing.” Senator Tom CottonThe Arkansas Republican and likely hopeful President of 2024 just delivered his “solution”.
“Lock them up,” basically.
“We have a big problem with incarceration in America,” Cotton tweeted Tuesday. “And it’s only going to get worse.”
If there is one thing America suffers from, it is not “liability.”
America has really found something that is “number one”: locking people up.
“The United States is the world leader in incarceration, even though the national incarceration rate is at its lowest level in 20 years. About 25% of the world’s prison population resides in the United States,” reports World Population Review, citing data from the World Prison Brief. “The United States currently has a total of over 2.1 million prisoners. The prison population was 200,000 in 1972, nearly 2 million fewer than today. “
The US leads the world not only in terms of per capita incarceration, but also in terms of the total number of people behind bars. The US has less than a quarter of the population of China, but more people in prison than the world’s most populous nation.
Cotton, the second largest far-right Republican in the U.S. Senate and below par in leadership, literally offered no solution to the evils that plague the nation. Out of 26 votes this year, Cotton has not voted 23 times – against every Biden initiative or nomination except three.
Today he was burned on social media:
If Tom Cotton is on trend, you know he said another racist, ignorant, or wrong thing. In this case all three. The idea that people like him walk through the halls of Congress every day – tells us exactly why this country is in ruins. He is a despicable person. https://t.co/H9HxD5J3Zq

I mean, we all know Tom Cotton is a bloodthirsty fascist.
But to say that we have a “problem of incarceration” is utterly perturbed even by its usual sociopathic standards. https://t.co/HDSh8DVBnp

We are the only country in the world that condemns young people to life without the possibility of parole.

Remember when Tom Cotton wrote that thing about using troops to destroy Black Lives Matter and people insisted he wasn’t a fascist? Well … https://t.co/GdwewzMjx2

And let’s not just talk about locking up less. This shouldn’t be a debate about how we imprison far too many and that Tom Cotton is a cancer sociopath who loves to torture people.
Let us take this opportunity to continue fighting for a future in which we do not imprison any.

Unsurprisingly this is Tom Cotton’s mindset, but we have an over-liability problem, not an under-liability problem.
We criminalize poverty and homelessness.
We criminalize addiction instead of investing in rehabilitation.
It’s disturbing that he wants to punish people for trying to survive. https://t.co/7MTZ4jManr

We have a big problem with the white supremacist domestic terrorists in America.
And it only gets worse.
Likewise. Tom Cotton, if you want to fill the prisons, start with the ex-husband and the January 6th uprising. #CapitolAttack #StuffWeShouldCancel Racist Tom Cotton https://t.co/0ZJWZN5KwS
