SIRA releases staff’ compensation information for March
The NSW State Insurance Commission (SIRA) released its employee compensation data for March 2021, which totaled $ 392.8 million in claims payments over the month.
Weekly payments made up 41.5% of the total, medical 23.1%, common law 14.6%, sections 66 and 67 4.9%, rehabilitation treatments 4.4%, legal aid 3.2%, investigations 2 , 2%, death benefits 1.8%, recoveries and reimbursements for 1.7%, other payments for 1.1%, conversions for 0.8%, SIRA-funded programs for 0.1%, and Sections 64C and 64B for 0.0%.
Overall, of the total of $ 392.8 million, 1.4% of reported wages in NSW went to bonuses. The industry also reported 9,991 claims and 65% of workers returned to work after four weeks.
The insurers collected a total of US $ 4.14 billion in premiums annually. In addition, they paid 72% of the expenses for and for employees from 2018 to 2019.
SIRA found that the upper limbs (33.5%) were the most common physical location of worker injuries, followed by the lower limbs (20.7%), trunk (18.9%), head (10.0% ), mental health (8.7%), multiple sites (2.8%), neck (2.4%), unconfirmed (1.8%) and systematic sites (1.1%).
