Scholar Affect On The Civil Rights Motion — Hometown Station | KHTS FM 98.1 & AM 1220 — Santa Clarita Radio
In the 1960s, the civil rights movement attracted students to gatherings, violence, marches and, in certain cases, imprisonment. Some were big-eyed idealists who worked for something and ignored the consequences. Others had to understand that they were making history and had no idea of the outcome.
In April 1960, the Southwide Student Leadership Conference took place. More than 56 colleges had participants associated with the “sit-in-motion”. The student activists were distributed in more than 12 states and had affiliated with students from more than 19 northern universities and colleges. More than 300 students attended the conference.
People in such times made history by exposing years of institutional segregation, repression of black American rights and domination, and stimulating the nation to act. The young people who were involved in the events of the civil rights movement played a crucial role in the beginning of the movement. And many of them were students.
Civil disobedience is the only chance to improve the political situation in the country. Everyone has to defend their point of view to the end. The civil rights movement is a defining movement in American history. During this time, the people of America have fought to have the ideals of equality and justice embedded in the founding reports. When students learn about this matter, they will understand what it means to be an active citizen of America. They also learn to recognize justice. Students learn the transformative role that thousands of students and adults have played in collective transformation. You see that it is possible for people to come together and stand against oppressors and oppression.
Movement, when given time in the classroom, is usually reduced to a lesson on a few hero characters. However, a student should know that it is much larger in the notable numbers. There are millions of people who have gathered the courage to be a part of it. Students should realize that the dream has not yet been realized. As long as race is still an obstacle to opportunity and access, and as long as it is natural for blacks to be poor, the dream has yet to be realized.
