SA employees’ compensation revisions stay regarding
The revisions to the Guidelines on Assessing the Impairment of Workers Compensation in South Australia released yesterday are an improvement on the originally proposed changes, but lawyers remain concerned that despite strong objections, some changes have been made.
“The changes made will have a large impact on injured workers’ compensation claims, but it will take us some time to fully understand the extent of the changes and their implications,” said Sarah Vinall, President of the Australian Lawyers Alliance.
“We’re pleased that some of our concerns have been addressed, for example we’re pleased that the automatic 10 percent adjustment for an existing injury has been removed. However, we remain very concerned that some of the revisions will significantly reduce compensation for workers injured at work.
