Republicans Blasted for Refusing to Applaud for Chopping Baby Poverty in Half

In his joint address to Congress on Wednesday evening, President Joe Biden worked to sell his vision for the future and for America.

Republicans refused to offer assistance.

In contrast to previous years, this was a socially distant matter for common addresses or addresses of the state of the Union with only 200 people in the chamber, which can accommodate 535 legislators and their guests. So it was extraordinarily easy to see the Republicans doing their best to defeat Biden’s goals and thwart his successes when he shared them with the nation.

Biden mentioned children more than 20 times in his address. Republicans couldn’t have cared less. When he talked about child poverty, they would sit and refuse to stand or applaud.

Biden announced: “Thanks to the American rescue plan, we are well on the way to halving child poverty in America this year.”

Republicans sat with stone faces.

BIDEN: We will cut child poverty in half.

Their refusal to support children did not go unnoticed.

Why do Republicans love child poverty so much?

Republican Congressmen sit back and refuse to clap as the president announces a * halving * of child poverty * in America. You’ll find out everything you need to know about the Republican Party.

By not applauding, the Republicans are showing us that they don’t support

Vaccination success ❌
Repair of the infrastructure ❌
Lower drug costs ❌
Equal pay for women ❌
Lower healthcare costs ❌
Public education ❌
Americans buy ❌
Subsistence level for Americans ❌

And we’re not done yet!

Republicans refused to embrace clean water and cut child poverty in half.

Would they applaud if a guy with horns kicked the door back down? https://t.co/uleSowyWhP

It’s strange not to applaud cutting child poverty in half.

Democrats stand and applaud when Biden mentions that child poverty will be cut in half. Republicans don’t.

It seems like some people are not happy about reducing child poverty. Pic.twitter.com/Wsgdxy1Tvf

It’s a bit disturbing that Republicans stayed seated when Biden talked about cutting child poverty in America in half this year. Are you in favor of it staying the way it is?

– Susan Glasser (@ sbg1) April 29, 2021

Not clapping to cut child poverty in half is actually a pretty good summary of where the GOP is these days.

– Tim Hogan (@timjhogan) April 29, 2021

I know you don’t like this guy, but how do you not stand for cutting child poverty in half?

– Evan Smith (@evanasmith) April 29, 2021

McConnell & Republicans Can’t Even Clap For The Positive Effects Of Reducing Child Poverty? We need to keep mobilizing the vote and make sure they never have a majority again.

– Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II (@RevDrBarber) April 29, 2021

Republicans did not applaud cutting child poverty in half. If you can’t welcome that, it tells us all about how important it is to you to help America.

– Adam Parkhomenko (@AdamParkhomenko) April 29, 2021

Not a single Republican could reduce child poverty.

They do not care. # PresidentialAddress
