QAnon Cultists Declare Trump Will Turn into President Once more on March 4 – This is Why

Amid Donald Trump’s second impeachment proceedings, believers in the far-right QAnon conspiracy theory are convinced that the former president will be sworn in again on March 4, 2021.

The group’s latest conspiracy theory emerged immediately after President Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20 – a day that would mark the moment when Trump would eliminate the so-called “deep state” and expose an elite child trafficking cabal. Instead, Biden was officially sworn in as the 46th president, and QAnon’s supporters wondered why the military coup and the dramatic scenes of the revolution did not take place as predicted.

Some QAnon supporters are struggling to reconcile their worldview with the reality of Biden’s presidency, and maintain the unfounded belief that Trump will return to the White House next month. The new date is the most recent endeavor by followers to keep conspiracy theory alive in a movement known for its ever-moving goal posts.

“I can’t wait for you to return, President Trump,” wrote one believer on a well-known QAnon Telegram channel. “Stay tuned! March 4th cannot come soon enough.”

The March 4 conspiracy theory is based on the belief that an obscure act known as the District of Columbia Organic Act of 1871, which QAnon supporters believe, turned the US into a corporation instead of a federal government. While there is no evidence to support these claims – the conspiracy theory is based on a misinterpretation of the term “local authority” – Qonon supporters maintain that the 1871 Act effectively means that laws passed after 1871 are not for US citizens apply and that a president is elected thereafter. 1871 was illegitimate.

Some QAnon supporters believe the United States will return to its original form as the federal government on March 4th, when Trump is allegedly sworn in as the 19th President of the United States. As with much of the QAnon movement, the 1871 conspiracy theory was revived and re-used by an earlier conspiracy theory relating to the sovereign civil movement, a group of Americans who viewed the government as illegitimate and therefore believed they could ignore its statutes. And similar to QAnon, the FBI has classified the sovereign citizens as a domestic terrorist threat.

As March 4th draws nearer, the Trump International Hotel in DC increased its rates for suite bookings near that date. Forbes says some rooms are selling for $ 1,331 a night, up 180 percent from the standard price in March. This form of opportunistic marketing is another example of how Trump and his subsidiaries have used QAnon.

For some QAnon followers, March 4th is a final standpoint for the movement – a chance to defend and confirm their longstanding beliefs. However, if March 4th turns into yet another uneventful day, some believers have vowed to take matters into their own hands.

“If Trump / military doesn’t do anything by March, we have to do something,” one QAnon supporter wrote on Telegram. “We cannot allow this betrayal to win our country!”
