Push for common family medical go away continues on the state capitol

Family leave remains a priority for democratic legislators in the state parliament. Representative Ruth Richardson has drafted a bill to implement a universal paid vacation program.

“All working families benefit from a stronger economic footing and ensure that families are not faced with the impossible choice of choosing the health of their little one or a paycheck.”

The bill had its first hearing earlier this week. A sticking point for opponents is the cost of the program for small and medium-sized businesses in the state.
