Sidney Katherine Powell (born 1955) is an American attorney and former federal attorney best known for participating in attempts to overthrow the 2020 US presidential election.
After graduating from law school in 1978, Powell began her career as the United States Assistant Attorney in the western district of Texas. During her tenure, she prosecuted Jimmy Chagra, who was involved in the May 1979 assassination of US District Judge John H. Wood Jr. She quit working as a prosecutor in 1988 and started her own prosecutor and defense law firm in 1993. She represented executives in the Enron scandal and defended General Michael Flynn in the United States against Flynn in 2019
