PRESS CALL: Senator Coons, Civil Rights, Legislation Enforcement, and Conservative Leaders Urge Swift Affirmation of Vanita Gupta to Justice Division

WASHINGTON – Tuesday, March 2 at 12 p.m. ET, Senator Chris Coons (D-Del.) And civil rights activists, law enforcement and Conservative leaders will hold a press conference calling on the Senate to swiftly approve Vanita Gupta as the next Associate Attorney General in the US Department of Justice. The Senate is expected to hold a hearing on her nomination on March 9.

The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, along with more than 100 organizations, sent the Senate a letter of support confirming Gupta. A fierce civil rights advocate, she has dedicated her career to promoting racial and social justice and equality for all. She is respected and widely recognized as a consensus builder. If this were confirmed, she would be the first black woman to hold this role.
