Native Civil Rights Leaders Name For Arrest Of SoCal Lady In iPhone Incident – CBS Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – Local civil rights activists are calling on police to arrest a Southland woman who allegedly falsely accused a black teenager of stealing her iPhone.
The incident occurred on December 26th and was videotaped at a hotel in New York City. The police did not reveal the woman’s name, but various media reports indicate that she is a 22-year-old woman from Sun Valley.
The cell phone video shows the woman chasing and attacking the boy. His family wants the woman to be charged with assault. Local civil rights activists agree.
“You have a young woman who was identified as a racially motivated attacker in a cell phone attack in New York,” said Earl Ofari Hutchinson, president of the LA Urban Policy Roundtable. “She needs to be arrested, extradited and prosecuted, and this was a racially motivated attack. Make no mistake. “
This woman actually got off her iPhone in an Uber ride. This driver gave it back to her a short time later.
The teenager is the son of Grammy-winning artist Keyon Harrold.
