Man Shoots and Kills Atlanta Grocery store Cashier, Wounds Guard Over Masks Coverage: Police

A man pulled out a gun and shot and killed a cashier at the Atlanta area Big Bear Supermarket over the store’s mask policy, police said. Two people, including a deputy from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Unit who worked as a security guard at the supermarket, and the suspect were also injured.

“The subject pulled out a gun and shot a cashier at the spot,” DeKalb County sheriff Melody Maddox said, according to 11Alive. “The person has passed away.”

“Although the details are not complete, authorities say the male suspect was involved in an argument with a young woman before he fired at her in the store,” said the sheriff’s office spokesman.

Apparently there was a dispute over the mask policy, which is clearly posted on the door of the store.

“A witness identified as Alan Williams said a man went into the store, hit the woman with a gun, and then shot her. Then the deputy and the suspect exchanged shots. “

This is a breaking news and a developing story.
