Incoming GOP Rep. Says “Hitler Was Proper” in Speech at U.S. Capitol

This week, Illinois congresswoman Mary Miller said during a Moms for America® Save the Republic rally in the country’s capital, “Hitler was right.”

While not speaking about the Nazi leader’s decision to kill over six million Jews, queers and others, she said, “Hitler was right about one thing. He said: “Whoever has the youth has the future”. “To build a lasting social movement, conservatives must win the hearts and minds of our children,” as Hitler’s Nazi youth program presumably did.

“This is the battle,” she said.

Here is the full clip. Arriving Illinois Congressman Mary Miller didn’t slip or improvise as she quoted Hitler and praised how the murderous Nazi built his political movement by indoctrinating the youth. She read from prepared remarks. pic.twitter.com/xWPi2u8wB3

When Republican Rodney Davis, Democratic Senator Tammy Duckworth, Democratic Governor JB Pritzker, the Illinois Legislative Jewish Caucus and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and others called on her to apologize or resign, she first defended her comments, saying that she meant her comments as “denouncing the efforts of evil dictators to reform young people and similar efforts by radical leftists in our country today.”

Since then she has declared herself noting that despite her appreciation for Hitler’s youth indoctrination efforts, she is pro-Israel rather than anti-Semitic, adding, “Some are deliberately trying to twist my words to mean something that contradicts my beliefs.”

“I sincerely apologize for the damage my words have done and I regret using a reference to one of the most evil dictators in history to illustrate the dangers that external influences can have on our youth,” she said. “This dark story should never be repeated and parents should be proactive in instilling the good, true, right, and noble in their children’s hearts and minds.”

Mary Miller was also one of 147 Republicans who voted against the confirmation of the electoral college vote for President-elect Joe Biden.

Twitter users didn’t have their apologies:

“You know, Charles Manson was right about one thing …” “You know, Pol Pot was right about one thing …” “You know, rapists and pedophiles are right about one thing …” points by referring to The damned not only causes your point of view to lose all moral authority, but it normalizes it.

It’s getting worse, she said Hitler was right about radicalizing children and said the GOP must do that now. 🤬

And she couldn’t have imagined a way to do this without saying the words “Hitler was right”?

Seems like a pretty straightforward phrase to avoid in general.

Your comments were shameful and pretty clear – you can’t get out of them now that you are not surrounded by a tell-tale mob. I am embarrassed that you are a member of our Congress delegation. My condolences go to the people of southern Illinois.
