Home Votes to Block Kevin McCarthy’s Censure Decision of Maxine Waters

After a full day of final arguments and the instruction of the judge in the Derek Chauvin trial to the jury, defense attorney Eric Nelson falsely claimed that US Congressman Maxine Waters (D-CA), whom he did not name, had “threatened violence”, if the jury doesn’t convict.

“Now that we have US representatives threatening violence on this particular case, that’s mind-boggling,” Nelson told Judge Peter Cahill, asking for a trial.

“I give you that Congressman Waters may have given you something on appeal that could result in this entire process being overturned,” Judge Cahill replied, but denied Nelson’s petition for a lawsuit.

The jury spent weeks on the case of the now-ex-cop, who held his knee to George Floyd’s neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds.

After the jury was excused, Nelson, who was criticized by experts during the trial and because of a long and boring final argument, registered additional complaints with the judge.

“I felt that this jury should have been confiscated from the start,” Nelson told the judge, using the word “mistrial” repeatedly. He also alleged “prosecution malpractice”.

Defense attorneys attempted to appeal to Judge Cahill for the language of the state in his concluding arguments.

Nelson told the judge that the jury had not been instructed to stay away from news. The judge and the prosecutor disagreed and gave examples.

The judge scolded elected officials for discussing the process and called it “hideous”.

Eric Nelson is now using Rep Maxine Waters, saying protesters should become “more active” and “more confrontational” unless Derek Chauvin is convicted as a reason for declaring a lawsuit. He claims she threatened violence.

Fact check: Waters did not threaten violence.

“I wish elected officials would stop talking about this case,” said Judge Peter Cahill. “Your failure is horrific, but… a congressman’s opinion really doesn’t matter. So, application for mistrial refused. “
