Home Publicizes Bipartisan Settlement on January 6 Fee – Till Kevin McCarthy Says He Hasn’t Learn It But
The House of Representatives Democrats and Republicans announced Friday morning that an agreement had been reached “to introduce legislation to establish a bipartisan, independent commission to investigate the January 6th domestic terrorist attack on the United States Capitol.” Many have doubted the commission will be formed after Republicans worked to derail progress. Well, House minority Republican leader Kevin McCarthy could do just that.
Spokeswoman Nancy Pelosi praised the Homeland Security Committee’s agreement, saying: “It is imperative that we seek the truth about what happened on January 6th with an independent, bipartisan 9/11 commission Investigate and report on terrorist attack. “
However, CNN’s Annie Grayer reports, “Kevin McCarthy tells reporters that he didn’t read through the deal John Katko made with Dems on behalf of 1/6 and that the scope shouldn’t be limited to 1/6, though this is the deal says. “
The Republicans have tried to include the protests against Black Lives Matter in the investigation, although they have nothing to do with the attempted coup and the attack on the Capitol.
When asked about McCarthy’s roadblock, Spokesman Pelosi said to Grayer, “You know what, why don’t you ask him?”
“Its senior member is a co-founder of the legislature,” noted Pelosi. “We are very pleased that it is bipartisan, and the scope was very important in the legislation.”
Bloomberg adds that McCarthy “was non-committal when asked if he supported the Commission’s legislation”.
“I have to go through it,” he said, pointing to “rhetoric” in the investigation-scope bill “that I want to see through.”
Some claim McCarthy’s attempts to block the commission were due to GOP MP Adam Kinzinger revealing to Earleir this week that he warned McCarthy Republicans of rhetoric and actions that would lead to violence on Jan. 3, but McCarthy fired him.
The Post House announced a bipartisan agreement on Jan. 6 – until Kevin McCarthy said he hadn’t read it and first appeared in the New Civil Rights Movement.
