Dollar General Corp. announced it will pay its frontline workers if they are vaccinated against COVID-19.
According to a news report from Reuters and a press release from the company, the discount chain, which has more than 16,000 stores in 45 states, will offer most employees four hours of wages once they take the vaccine.
The stores that sell housewares and groceries do not have pharmacies or funds to take the pictures on site.
“We don’t want our employees to have to choose whether to get a vaccine or come to work. That’s why we’re working to remove obstacles (e.g. travel time, mileage, childcare needs, etc.) by providing the hourly frontline team members with a one-time payment equivalent to four hours of regular payment after receiving a completed COVID-19 vaccination, ”says it in the press release.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has stated that health care workers and nursing home residents should receive vaccines first, followed by older and more important workers, such as the health care worker. B. in Dollar General Stores. Some states have their own vaccination schedules.
Experts have said that vaccinations for public-sector workers can help reduce the number of COVID disease compensation claims and quarantines. Lawyers have also said that all side effects of in-house vaccinations should be covered by employee compensation, but it’s less clear whether complications from incentive vaccinations are an option.
The National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, a government fund, was also set up to cover the costs of vaccine side effects.
