Gaetz ‘Wingman’ Greenberg Admits Guilt in 80 Web page Plea Deal Together with Intercourse Trafficking of a Minor – Agrees to Cooperate
The New York Times reports that US Congressman Matt Gaetz’s “wingman” Joel Greenberg admitted “many crimes”, including sex trafficking in minors, in an 80-page plea with federal attorneys. He pleaded guilty in court on Friday.
Greenberg “agreed to work with the Justice Department investigation and hand over a potential key witness to prosecutors when they decide whether to prosecute Mr. Gaetz,” the Times reported.
Greenberg “admitted that he and unidentified others had paid a 17 year old girl to have sex and that he had provided her with drugs. He admitted that according to the documents he “introduced the minors to other adult men engaged in commercial sex acts” and that he was sometimes present. The others weren’t named, ”reports the Times.
Renowned attorney Ken White, who tweeted as “Popehat” and runs the Popehat blog, offered some context and advice to those wondering what this means for Congressman Gaetz.
“It is quite typical that the cooperation partner does not name the co-conspirators in the cooperation agreement, at least at this point – prevents them from being made aware of this. They would name her in a collaboration agreement that came after everyone was charged, ”Popehat’s Twitter account reads.
He adds:
But relax with OMG MATT GAETZ GOES TO PRISON. Is that a potential problem for him? Yes, if Greenberg can help prove federal crimes. Is it also possible that there aren’t any probable federal crimes? Yes.
