Fox Information Slammed for Whitewashing Georgia Spa Shooter as “‘Remorseful’ Intercourse Addict?”

The front cover of the Fox News website on Thursday featured a graphic for the story of the 21-year-old Georgia man who was accused of shooting eight people, including seven women, six of whom are Asian-American. The graphic headline reads “‘Regret’ Sex Addict?”

“Atlanta suspect had rehab, was ashamed of addiction, say ex-roommates,” said the sub-head.

The title has changed several times. The Fox News homepage now reads: “Ex-roommates of the Atlanta massacre suspect say he went into rehab for sex addiction and felt extremely guilty.” The article itself says, “Atlanta shooting suspect attended rehab for sex addiction, felt ‘remorse and shame,’ say former roommates.”

Here’s how it appeared on the front page of Fox News at 3:54 p.m.

Those who support Robert Aaron Long and insist on his alleged “addiction” made him likely not understand growing up in some Christian evangelical homes, according to Chrissy Stroop of Religion Dispatches.

The person who delivers this message most often is the youth pastor – in this case Long’s father.

Long’s sex drive was likely normal, but he was taught to be evil and to be suppressed until marriage. This leads many evangelical boys to believe they have sex or porn addiction.

The online outrage over Fox News, which was protecting the white killer of predominantly Asian women, was palpable.
