Federal Civil Rights Go well with Filed In opposition to Putnam County
A Putman County man has filed a civil rights suit against the Public County Commission and five law enforcement officers for an illegal search of his home. They claimed to have the authority of an eviction notice, but the plaintiff was not served. They were members of a special anti-drug unit. They did not find any drugs, but ransacked the home.
Officials destroyed an outdoor surveillance camera that entered the home by pushing an air conditioner through a window. However, the officers were captured by hidden indoor cameras.
The officers did not have a search warrant or the authority to enforce a civil summons.
