Chester Jackson Jr.’s attorneys will head to court docket Monday for civil rights lawsuit

CALDWELL, Texas (KBTX) – Somerville’s Chester Jackson remains in a long-term care facility in Austin and is unable to speak while incarcerated after incidents nearly two years ago.

The bodycam video shows Jackson being thrown into his cell and hitting his head in Burleson County Jail.

She was later taken to a mental hospital in Austin, where he later went into cardiac arrest and was unable to breathe.

Jackson’s attorney Ua Lewis says they are still pending civil rights lawsuit against the county pending in federal courts in Austin.

Lewis says they will soon file an additional lawsuit against Cross Creek Hospital in Austin, the facility Jackson was taken to by Burleson County officers.

Jackson was arrested for public poisoning back in 2019 and later charged with assaulting a prison employee.

Lewis says they will go to court on Monday over these criminal charges.
