Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis announces arrest of $ 88,000 in Miami employee bonus fraud program
MIAMI – Jimmy Patronis, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), announced today the arrest of Yoni O. Martinez, President and Owner of LAMX Construction Company Corporation, for employee compensation fraud and grand theft for allegedly concealing salary information to avoid paying more than $ 88,000 to avoid in employee compensation awards.

An investigation by the Investigative and Forensic Services Division (DIFS) of CFO Patronis, Bureau of Workers Compensation Fraud, found that the president and owner of LAMX Construction Company Corporation, Yoni Martinez, had actively concealed payroll to the Avoid paying higher employee compensation payments. Martinez requested an annual payroll of $ 119,150 from Southeast Personnel Leasing for the insurance periods from July 2014 through January 2017. Based on the estimated annual payroll, the estimated premium for the insurance period was $ 19,433. During the investigation, detectives found that the company was taking in more than $ 635,636 in workers than the $ 119,150 Martinez originally reported to Southeast Personnel Leasing when he obtained the policy. Had the payroll been properly reported, LAMX Construction Company Corporation would have received an employee compensation award totaling $ 107,549. This resulted in a net loss of $ 88,116.24 in employee compensation awards based on the alleged fraudulent actions of the owners.
Yoni O. Martinez was arrested on May 3, 2021 and admitted to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County. Martinez is charged with employee compensation fraud and grand theft. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison. Individuals charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
