Alabama State University is entitled to a summary judgment on the lawsuit of a former assistant professor who alleged her annual contract was not renewed in retaliation for taking vacation under the Family and Medical Leave Act, an Alabama federal court ruled. The assistant professor failed to show that the explanations for the non-renewal – her angry demeanor, insubordination, and a combative email she sent – were pretexts.
